Mawhiti Waiheke reflects architectural excellence complemented with an exceptional collection of contemporary art.

Stevens Lawson’s Gateway Pavilion naturally provided the inspiration for the architecture of the residence, each structure complementing one another with a beautiful sense of place. The Gateway’s repeated roof gable was inspired by the lines of the classic New Zealand whare; an iconic shape that informed the home’s dramatic, vaulted ceilings that provide a meditative elegance to all living spaces.

Mawhiti Waiheke features art from leading New Zealand sculptors, painters and photographers including Sophia Minson, Alan Ibell, Mark Smith, and Anton Forde. Forde - a preeminent Waiheke-based sculptor - created various works for the residence including a ‘Southern Cross Teardrop’ honed on a basalt base for the living pavilion, to a series of pou sculptures outside and in a private bedroom courtyard.
